Do you ever find yourself looking around, wondering why things are not going “right” for you? Do you ever feel like great things are happening for other people, but you’re left with nothing exciting happening for you?
If you do, take a deep breath, understand that it’s okay to feel what you’re feeling. Then take action to can change that feeling. One of the best ways to make things better for yourself is to truly appreciate what you already have. Why would things be given to you to make your life better, if you do not already appreciate what is already in plain sight?
Don’t worry though, I have the answer for you. It’s simple, it’s not time-consuming, and it will put you in a better frame of mind. It takes less than 10 minutes and I PROMISE it will make the difference in your life. You will feel better, you will appreciate what you have, and you will open yourself up to infinite possibilities.
So what is the answer you ask…?
WRITE A GRATEFUL LOG!
What is a grateful log? It’s a list you create and add to each day. There are many ways to do it, many things you can add to it, and lots of ways to make it exciting. Here is the step by step method to create one for yourself.
Step one: Write the date
Step Two: Write this sentence down at the top of the page, right below the date
“I am so grateful for these things in my life today”
Step Three: List anywhere from 1-10 things you are grateful for that day. You can keep it simple, or you can make it complex. That part is completely up to you
Step Four: Go back and read aloud what you have just written. Do you feel a smile on your face? If you do GREAT, if not, repeat step four again and again until you do.
Step Five: Write this sentence under the list that you have just created and fill in the blank.
“I am so happy that I accomplished___________ today”
Step Six: Read that sentence aloud to truly appreciate the fact that you accomplished something today. It may be something ordinary, and it may be something extraordinary. Either way, celebrate it!
Step Seven: Write down 1-3 things you love about yourself. This part may be even harder than step three, but TRUST me, it will be worth it.
Step Eight: Read aloud the things that you love about yourself. The more you say these things, the more you will believe it.
Step Nine: WALK AWAY. Just for 5 minutes
Step Ten: come back to your list and read aloud EVERYTHING you wrote down for today’s date. Take a moment and breathe in all that awesomeness that you have just reminded yourself about.
The universe is there to provide everything you need at the right time. However, you must be ready to receive it, and you need to be able to appreciate it when it arrives.
Please see below for an example of a grateful log. The more you make it your own, the more you will come to love it and embrace it.
Monday February 9 2015
I am so grateful for these things in my life today:
My fur babies
Having a working furnace in the cold
Healthy food at home
I am so happy that I accomplished getting to the gym and getting through my whole workout before the snow started.
I love these things about myself today:
My willingness to help others
My increasing confidence
When being Grateful becomes part of your life, you will notice a significant increase in your energy. The universe will provide you with what you need to move to where you need to be.
